A few more checked off

35 Publish a photo book
- Well this isn't published in the sense that it's for sale but I have two physical photo books that I created from a couple of trips I've taken so I'm saying that counts. They're published if only for my own benefit.

42 Take myself out for a meal
- I took myself for breakfast one morning between getting off work and a meeting.

56 Try Bikram Yoga 30 day challenge
- Didn't make it to the end but did 22 days which I think is pretty good given my crazy schedule. Might try it again in February to see if I can make all 30. We'll see.

84 Take photo booth photos with my partner
- Completed this while at the mall doing some shopping. Finally had the right change for once. :)

Update number 7

I finally have art on my bedroom walls! Yay! Number 74 is now complete. The following are the photos I had printed then framed and hung:

I have also completed volunteering at the Fringe (number 66). It was fantastic fun and I have 1243 photos to sort through. Aiming to do this soon and get some posted on my webpage (fotosbyforbsie.ca) in the near future.

Update number 6

One more has been completed and I have added another to in progress.

51 - Turn an old t-shirt into something new
This is in progress as I have a pile of t-shirts and a plan for them. It's just going to take some time to get organized and create a more concrete plan of attack.

79 - Become certified to teach first aid
So far so good. Completed the instructor course and over the past two days completed my first team teach. That went well and I'm booked for my second one in August where I'll attempt to teach the lessons that I didn't do this week.

11 - Get a full body massage
Completed this today and it was fantastic. This is definitely something I am going to consider continuing to do on some kind of semi regular basis. :)

Update number 5

So, I've managed to cross a few more things off my list and put a few more into progress.

Complete:

30 Plan a random weekend road trip
- Plans are in place for me and my partner to roadtrip to Jasper on July 23rd. Hotel is booked and I think we're good to go. I've never been to Jasper so it should be fun.

54 Use a film camera
- This is done and I have photos to prove it. My partner and I wandered our neighbourhood a couple weekends ago and I took the film camera along. Here's a few of the photos that were taken:

76 Have a try something new date
99 Fire a handgun
- These were completed together. As neither my partner nor I had ever shot a handgun before I suggested we go to the gun range and try it. He was game, hence our try something new date. We fired a 9mm and a 44 revolver (aka the Dirty Harry gun). Fantastic fun. Here's photos of the targets we shot at:

95 Buy a funky hat and find a reason to wear it
- Done. The reason was nothing major but I wore my bowler style hat to my last staff meeting at work as I was not organized enough to get my hair done before leaving the house. Not a great reason but it is a reason. Ha ha. Got lots of compliments on the hat so it all worked out.

In Progress:

28 Donate my time once a month for at least 6 months
- I am currently volunteering at the Edmonton International Street Performers Festival and will be volunteering at the Edmonton Fringe Festival in August.

31 Take the random weekend road trip
- Marked this as in progress as there are plans to go July 23rd. Looking forward to it.

62 Spend a night in an unfamiliar place
- This is marked as in progress in connection with the road trip. As I've never been to Jasper it'll be an unfamiliar place.

82 Save enough money for a down payment on a house
- Slowly building savings. Going to take some time to get to the down payment but got to start somewhere, right?

Update number 4

Okay...so still sucking at updating this but that's ok. Not a big deal. I'm still making some progress on my goals. Here's where I am currently:

2: Host a dinner party
This is now complete. As I mentioned in my last post I hosted a team building potluck with my coworkers. It was a blast. We had lots of food, some drinks, and general good times.

3: Make pasta from scratch
This I took on last week. Was on a cooking/baking spree with some time off. And with the help of a friend made ravioli. Turned out not too bad, though we learned that the pasta needs to be rolled out thinner next time and to use less flour.

11: Get a full body massage
This is marked as in progress as I have a gift certificate from a friend for a massage and plan to call next week to book it. Looking forward to this one.

16: Try a new restaurant
Completed this past Wednesday when a friend was visiting from out of town. We wandered and came across a little Mexican place that recently opened. We had tacos, quesadillas, and jamaica water. And for two of us it was under $25. Fantastic!

29: Grow my hair long enough to put in a pony tail
Still working on this one. Slow but sure, despite wanting to cut it short again some days. If I end up in a photo in the near future I'll post it to show where I'm at. I've had it cut once so far so that it didn't feel so mullet like and smoothed out the layers.

66: Volunteer at the Fringe Festival
Well, this I am all set up to do. Will be volunteering as part of the multimedia team, taking photos. Orientation is August 4th and the festival begins on the 12th. Should be fun.
- And related to this I have a number of photography related things in my list that are in progress.

74: Hang a set of photos in my bedroom
This is marked as in progress as I have picked the photos I want to have printed for the bedroom, well most of them still need one more for over the bed. Now it's just a matter of scraping together the cash to get the prints done. Once I decide on the last one I'll post them on here.

95: Buy a funky hat and find a reason to wear it
Put this as in progress as I recently bought a bowler type hat which I think is pretty funky. Now I just need a reason to wear it, which may end up being just because but it's all good.

So, that's my update for now. Still working on the daily/weekly/monthly things and doing my best to stay on top of them but working nights kinds of gets in the way. Anyway, until next time:

Update number 3

Well, obviously I'm slacking on the whole updating thing but I'm still making some progress with my list as I've checked off two more and put some others into progress.

20 - Sell one of my photos.
This one I completed recently by selling multiple prints of a photo to the ED where I work. She expressed interest before in obtaining some of my photos and recently made a decision. They have been printed and framed for her, now it's just connecting with her to pass them on. :)

21 - Keep a plant alive for at least a month.
Done. The plants I purchased just prior to beginning this list are still alive so this goal is complete. Sad to say the one I was trying to bring back did not survive but hopefully these other two continue to do well.

2 - Host a dinner party
I put this one as in progress as I will be hosting a team building potluck with my co-workers at my place this coming weekend. Not necessarily what everyone considers a dinner party but it falls in my definition of it, I'm just not cooking everything. I'll post how it goes some time next week (ideally, but no guarantees).

48 - Add a new photo to my webpage at least once per week
This will be an ongoing one but so far so good. Missed a week or two but added at least two the following week to make up for it, so not bad. Been modifying the layout lately as well and wishing I knew more about webpage design and had more patience for it too. Oh well, I'll eventually get it the way I want it, at least till I change my mind again.

50 - Make someone laugh
I could probably check this one off a number of times but what I'm going to use for the purpose of this is making my partner laugh. I don't always know what I do that makes him laugh but it's all good because it means we're having fun. The other night he was laughing at me with my spoonful of peanut butter as I added M&Ms to it. He said I was cute. I just think they go well together.

55 - Gain a better understanding of photoshop
Making some slow progress on this. As I edit photos to be put up on my webpage I am slowly becoming more comfortable with using photoshop and being able to make it do what I want. So, I'll keep working on this one and see how it goes.

60 - Complete the NYIP photography course
Just sent off photo project number 2 and in the process of completing photo project number 3 so more or less halfway.

79 - Become certified to teach first aid
This is another one in process. I have the information and know what I need to do it. Now I'm just waiting to find out from my supervisor when I can get the time off needed to complete the courses.

Well, that's all for now. I'll try to update this more regularly and stay more on top of what I'm trying to do.

Until next time:
